Some software I use
I use these tools regularly and thought they might be useful for others.
- Google chrome for web browsing, quickly overtaking firefox. Website: http://www.google.co.uk/chrome
- Although the updates to javascript in new versions of firefox are pretty useful, especially if you're running websites that utilise it a lot e.g. GWT based sites. Website: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
- For Sony Ericsson phones, myphoneexplorer is a fantastic utility allowing you to control your phone using your computer. Website: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
- Unlocker is very useful for discovering which program is using a file: http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
- Lock hunter is a similar tool to unlocker, but works on 64 bit systems. Website: http://lockhunter.com/
- CCleaner is a great tool for cleaning your computer, temp files, registry, uninstalling software and more. Website: http://www.ccleaner.com
- The K-Lite codec pack + media player classic plays pretty much everything. Website: http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
- windirstat is a fantastic utility to help analyse your hard drive usage giving all sorts of break downs and a graph of files, very handy. Website: http://windirstat.info/
- Avast is the best free virus scanner I've ever used. Website: http://www.avast.com/
